Frequently Asked Questions

Our Pearson Automotive team understands that auto repairs in Fairbanks can be overwhelming. If you have questions about these services, we have several answers below. If, for any reason, you do not see an answer to your questions, call our office or contact us online for additional information.

We complete a diagnostic and inspection so that we know all the issues your car is experiencing. We use enhanced diagnostics to connect to the onboard computer, and we survey every inch of the vehicle so that you know the status of your car before we recommend repairs or services.

Every manufacturer and model has a different recommended interval between oil changes. Generally, oil changes should occur between 3,000 and 5,000 miles after the last service. We offer both full-synthetic and synthetic blends, and we will review the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals.

If your vehicle alerts you when it is time for an oil change, we ask that you do not let the oil percentage dip below 10%.

Your gas mileage changes as you drive, and certain factors can reduce your gas mileage.

  • If you need an oil change or are close to your next service, the fuel economy tends to drop.
  • Bald tires can reduce gas mileage
  • Misaligned or imbalanced tires can reduce your fuel economy
  • “Overdriving” your car can reduce your gas mileage due to repeated starting and stopping. Your mileage also drops when you drive everywhere very quickly.
  • You may have sensor or electrical issues that reduce your fuel economy.

Allow us to inspect and diagnose the problem so that you can improve the performance of your vehicle.

Tire alignment improves the performance and safety of your vehicle. When we align your tires, they point the same direction, improving your fuel economy. Plus, tire alignment improves the safety of your car. The wheels tend to wobble when your tires are not aligned, and that makes driving feel unsafe.

Reach out to us at Pearson Automotive for a tire alignment before these symptoms get out of control.

You should have your brakes checked every time the tires are rotated or aligned. If you are not visiting the shop specifically for these services, have your brakes checked at least once a year. During a brake inspection, we give you an estimate of how much longer the brakes will last.

OEM parts are the parts that are designed to work specifically in your vehicle. We only use OEM parts so that you get the best performance from each service and can drive confidently for many miles to come.

We offer a 5-year/50,000 mile warranty with every repair. Our warranty covers parts and labor if you experience any issues with our services.
